Uzbekistan Workforce Camp Construction Project: 182 Modular Units Power Modern Camp Construction

Project Overview: New Tashkent Construction Efficiency Transformation
The Tashkent New City Project was born against the background of Uzbekistan’s strong promotion of the “New Tashkent” national strategic urban expansion plan and has become a major turning point for the construction of modern infrastructure in Central Asia. Orient GS International Engineering Co., Ltd. produced and provided the project, which ultimately serves the self-construction and operation of the New Tashkent region.

The main deliverable of the project is 182 prefabricated modular buildings of high quality. These modular units are not just temporary housing but multifunctional building systems that combine worker accommodation, offices, restaurants, laundry rooms, stairs, and corridors. All the prefab modules are exported from GS Housing’s Foshan factory and come with a 12-month quality guarantee, fully demonstrating the reliability and competitiveness of Chinese manufacturing in the international infrastructure sector.

Project Background: Why Is Tashkent Need Modular Buildings?
Uzbekistan’s economy has been the fastest-growing in Central Asia since its reform and opening up in 2017. The capital, Tashkent, is under triple pressure from a fast-growing population, housing shortages, and old infrastructure. In 2023, President Mirziyoyev launched the “New Tashkent” project, which aims to create a modern new district east of the existing city that can house a million people. Traditional reinforced concrete construction methods are time-consuming, costly, and have a huge environmental impact, which makes them not suitable for the fast development of the new city.

The best solution has become the prefabricated modular building from China. The factory can produce 182 modular units in parallel, completing electrical pre-installation, insulation installation, interior decoration, and exterior decoration simultaneously. On-site construction is limited to foundation work and lifting and assembly of modules. This “factory manufacturing + on-site assembly” model shortens the overall construction period by more than 50%, reduces construction waste by 70%, and is perfectly in line with the local labor force and technical capabilities in Uzbekistan.

  • Easy to install
  • Lower labor costs
  • Expandable
  • Easily transportable
  • Structure reusable
  • Method for sustainable
    construction

Flat pack container houses are becoming one of the most cost-effective solutions for temporary and semi-permanent workforce accommodation projects in South America.
Design of Modular Accommodation Layout
The workers’ dormitory camp was designed to comfortably house 18-36 residents.
Residence Halls
Each dorm room was designed as a 4-person sleep unit and had

  • Bed
  • Cupboards
  • Study desks
  • Electrical sockets
  • Led lighting
  • Natural Ventilation Windows
  • Air-conditioned

A modular layout offers a private and organized living environment for workers and maximizes space utilization.
Shared Facilities
Also, the accommodation camp has:

This integrated design promotes worker well-being and efficient labor accommodation management.

System Structure
The modular buildings for accommodation are based on the modular frame system of GS Housing in galvanized steel.
Features include:

  • High-tensile steel frame
  • Corrosion-resistant treatment
  • Longer service life
  • High wind resistance
  • Earthquake resilience

The solid construction of the buildings enables their use in various industrial and construction sites throughout Argentina.

Protective Systems
Due to Buenos Aires’ humid climate, the modular camp accommodation project utilized insulated sandwich wall panels.

Advantages are:

  • Better indoor comfort
  • Lower energy consumption
  • Better sound insulation
  • Fire-resistance performance

The roof system includes extra thermal insulation and waterproof protection to provide a comfortable indoor environment in summer heat and winter humidity.

Quick Shipping and Installation
The worker accommodation project was also greatly beneficial in terms of logistical efficiency.

The flat pack design allows several housing units to be packed into one shipping container, dramatically reducing the costs of international transportation compared to traditional container buildings.

Upon arrival in Argentina, the container modules were installed on-site with standard equipment, which minimized project downtime and labor demands.

Some of the main benefits are:

  • Reduced shipping costs
  • Accelerated site deployment
  • Little foundation work
  • Easy to relocate in the future

Suitable industries in Argentina
The Buenos Aires Worker Accommodation Project illustrates the potential of modular housing to be realized in various sectors in Argentina, including the following:

Building Projects
Prefabricated accommodation for workers on mega-infrastructure projects, highways and bridges, and industrial plants.

Oil & Gas and Energy Projects
Short and long-term housing needs for staff camps that support energy development for the workforce.

Mining Activities
Prefab accommodation camps for workers in support of lithium, copper, gold, and other mining projects throughout Argentina.

Industrial Development Projects
Modular housing for factory construction and industrial park construction.

Advantages of the Project
GS Housing’s modular construction solution has enabled the client to:

  • Deliver the project quickly
  • Accommodations for the comfortable workers
  • Decreased construction costs
  • Ability for flexible expansion of the camp
  • Sustainable, reusable buildings
  • Long-term operational stability

The container labor accommodation project highlights the increasing demand for modular worker accommodation solutions in Argentina and the potential of flat-pack container housing as a viable and scalable solution for construction and industrial projects.
